e-Prescription

SuiteMed's e-Prescription module empowers you to retrieve patient information such as medication histories, eligibility, and formulary information and transmit prescriptions in real-time securely to the pharmacies of your patients' choice. It's easy to use and fully integrated saving you time and maximizing productivity.

According to the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), beginning in 2009 and continuing during the four years that follow, Medicare will provide incentive payments to eligible professionals who are successful electronic prescribers. Eligible professionals who are successful electronic prescribers will receive 2 percent incentive payments on their Part B billings in 2009 and 2010, 1 percent incentive payments in 2011 and 2012, and 0.5 percent incentive payments in 2013. However, those not adopting e-prescribing by 2012 will face penalties starting at 1%, which will rise to 2% after 2013.

• Step 1 - Go to the prescription screen on the Visit Note and click on eRx - Electronic Prescription
• Step 2 - Select the drug from the drug list available. Choose based on the formulary and select the direction on the screen
• Step 3 - Review your complete prescription
• Step 4 - Approve and transmit or let your staff do the same after approval
• Step 5 - Choose a pharmacy from the complete list of pharmacies in the U.S. (find using zip code or patient address) and let the pharmacy do the remaining part as you earn incentives
